BOB DYLAN & BOB NEUWIRTHafter being dumped by Dylan
would she still be alive today???

According to Andy, Bob Neuwirth "was a painter who originally started
singing and guitar playing up in Cambridge just to make money to paint
with." (POP107) Neuwirth was "one of the few men in her life with whom
Edie had a satisfying sexual relationship". (L&D228) It was through
Neuwirth that Edie met Dylan. (POP107). Warhol had met Dylan in the
early sixties through the "MacDougal Street/Kettle of Fish/Cafe
Rienzi/Hip Bagel/Cafe Figaro scene." (POP107).
After Beauty No. 2, Newuwirth "began to draw her (Edie) into the Dylan
enclave in Woodstock, where Dylan's manager Albert Grossman dangled
offers of recording contracts and starring roles in films with Dylan
on the condition she left that madman Warhol... But there was a tug of
war between the Warhol and Dylan entourages, who represented two poles
of the New York underground, the one homosexual, mostly into
amphetamine, the other heterosexual, mostly into acid, amphetamine,
heroin and pot. The two camps despised each other. At the Factory
Dylan was known as 'the creep'." (L&D228) Dylan's song Like A Rolling
Stone contained "acid comments" about "the Warhol-Sedgwick
relationship (Andy is Napoleon in rags)" (L&D229). According to Nico,
Dylan's song, Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat was also about Edie (EDIE349).
Paul Morrissey: "She signed with Grossman at Dylan's urging.
Apparently Grossman had said that he didn't think she should see Andy
so much any more because the publicity that came out of it wasn't
good... She said 'They're going to make a film, and I'm supposed to
star in it with Bobby.' Suddenly it was Bobby this and Bobby that, and
we realized that that she had a crush on him. We tough he'd been
leading her on because just that day Andy had heard in Sy Litvinoff's
office - our lawyer - that Dylan had been secretly married for a few
months - he married Sara in November, 1965. Everything was secret in
those days for some reason...all phony secrecy. So Andy couldn't
resist asking, 'Did you know, Edie that bob Dylan has gotten married?'
She just went pale... We realized that she really thought of herself
as entering a relationship with Dylan... that maybe he hadn't been
very truthful. Probably none of it was true - Dylan never had any
intention of making a movie with Edie, or starring her." (POP284)
