That's absurd... Lou's involvement is the only reason anyone

What does trying to sing or play guitar have to do with poetry?
It has more to to with the fact that Lou Reed is one of the greatest
living poets of the 20th Century.

Your confession is noted, Gary.

Anyway, back to Lou Reed as a great American poet, here's one nice
piece on a reading Reed did a few years ago:

http://theconcertroom.blogspot.com/2011/03/lou-reed-poetry-reading-nyc-1991.html

"...These tracks truly speak for themselves, made up of Lou Reed
reading his poetry and lyrics for a crowd in New York City, 1991.
Heroin is a lyrical masterpiece, so it’s great to hear how he gives
these words creedence in the context of intimate poetry. Dirty
Boulevard is a great testament of Lou Reed’s love/hate relationship
with New York. It Wasn’t Me is a thrilling political piece where he
spears those who blame him for being a “bad” influence and causing his
listeners to “sin”. The timing can be weird, when someone has to read
something originally written in 4/4 time, but listen for things beyond
that. I’m so glad I found this poetry reading."

And here's a great find, a collection of Lou Reed's poetry from 1976:

http://www.loureed.nl/Lou_Reed_poems.html

"...On This site you can find 8 poems written by Lou Reed. They where
published in "the Coldspring Journal" from January 1976. Victor
Bockris was the guest editor for this issue.
The magazine contains among others Poetry by Lou Reed, The secret
diaries by Gerard Malanga, a piece about Viva, and a story of
Christopher Makos..."

I simply indicated that with Lou Reed involved it would be a bad idea for
him to sing or play guitar - not that it wasn't worth checking out.

But, IMHO Lou Reed's poetry ain't that great either. :)

To each his own & all that... no worries.

Looking forward to some new Lou Reed myself, though, been a fan for
about 40 years now.

 How
long did you say you've lived in Canada?
You tell me
You lived in Atlanta in the 1970s, or so you claimed unless you were
lying again, Gary, so I suppose sometime between the 1980s & now.

Am I right?
